Young mechanic on assault and firearms charges on $12,000 bail

A 22 year old mechanic of Belmont, was granted bail in the sum of $12,000 when he appeared in the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, March 9 on charges of assault and firearms possession.

The police say that Zolaney David was arrested on March 8, 2022 and charged with the offences of possession of an unlicensed firearm, and assault.

David allegedly had in his possession one (1) black and silver Python .380 revolver without a license issued under the Firearms Act. He was further charged with assaulting a 31 year old bartender/supervisor of Glen by pointing a gun at her with intent to commit bodily harm. The incident is said to have occurred at around 6:40 p.m at Glen on March 7, 2022.

When David appeared in the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, March 9, he pled not guilty and was granted composite bail in the sum of $12,000 with one surety and ordered not to contact the virtual complainant. He was also ordered to surrender all travel documents and report to the Calliaqua Police Station every Friday between 6:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m.. Stop notices were issued at all ports of Entry/Exit. The matter was adjourned to March 15.
