Mechanic ordered to pay fine for unlawful possession and discharge of a firearm

A mechanic has been ordered to pay a total fine of $11,500 for the crimes of unlawful possession and discharge of a firearm.

On January 31, at the Calder public road, 34 year old Dimeon Glasgow of Gomea possessed his friend’s licensed Glock 9mm pistol for what is said to be a few seconds. He discharged it just at the time that a transport of police officers was passing.

The 34-year-old, represented by counsel, Grant Connell entered a guilty plea last week and was slated to be sentenced at the Serious Offences Court (SOC) yesterday, February 14.

Chief Magistrate, Rechanne Browne sentenced him to pay $9,500 for the possession. Of this amount, $2,000 was ordered to be paid forthwith, defaulting which he would spend three months in prison. The balance of $7,500 must be presented by August 1, or a prison term of eight months will take effect.

On the matter of discharge of the firearm, the magistrate ordered that Glasgow pays $2,000 forthwith or spend three months in prison.
