Roberts died last week from injuries sustained on May 8, when he was struck by Suzuki Escudo RV 242 driven by George.

George appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Monday. He was also charged with driving without third party insurance and driving without being the owner of a permit.

On Sunday, May 8, Roberts, his son Adam and Adam’s mother, Michelle Shearman, were struck by the vehicle George was driving while they were walking along the Lodge Village public road. The three pedestrians were knocked unconscious by the vehicle, which was heading into Kingstown. George then fled the scene.

When he appeared in court on Monday, George was not allowed to plead and the prosecution objected to his bail.

Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias remanded George for seven days in the first instance, after which his bail would be considered.

He will appear in court again on June 13.
