Dwayne Jacobs – A thief with taste

Dwayne Jacobs has fine taste when it comes to liquor. So much so, he saw it fit to steal a bottle each of Hennessy and Courvoisier from Coreas valued at $198 on May 2, 2009.{{more}}

Senior Magistrate Donald Browne sentenced Jacobs, 19, of Lowmans Hill to one-month imprisonment on Monday May 5, 2009 after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Information coming from the court indicates that Jacobs was in the company of Dennis Richardson, 16, of Glen, when they entered the store. The court head that Richardson took up an item and paid the cashier with a $20 bill.

Meanwhile, Jacobs, who was under the watchful eye of the store’s security guard, managed to slip out of the store with the high-priced drinks in his bag.

In his explanation to the court, Jacobs said he went into the store alone and met Richardson and another friend there. He said the other man gave him a plastic bag with the drinks to hold. “I been shopping and I had a shopping bag at the time, so I just place his bag with drinks in my bag, since he gave me to hold,” Jacobs revealed.

“I don’t believe you. You’re a thief. Look at your record. It seems to me like you have good taste man,” Browne stated.(KW)
