Car washer fined for cocaine

Clifford Coombs, a 45-year-old car washer of Arnos Vale was fined $350 on Tuesday at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court when he pleaded guilty to having two grams of cocaine in his possession on November 10, 2007 at Arnos Vale.{{more}}

Senior Magistrate Donald Browne gave him seven days in which to pay the fine or go to jail for five months.

Local police were on duty in the area when Coombs was met in a parlour. The officers conducted a search and 14 pieces of wrapped foil paper were found in one of the corners of the parlour.

Coombs denied any knowledge of the drug but later admitted they were his.

Coombs was initially charged with two others, but the charges against the others were dismissed. (KW)
