The annual Fisherman’s Day competition on Bequia is a much-anticipated event. Staged in honour of the much-loved Sylvester Simmons, deceased, the competition became dormant in recent times. However, this year, it will be back with a bang as Lulley’s once again takes the lead in fulfilment of a pledge made when the Sylvester Simmons Foundation was established. As Mark explains it, the pledge was to be a premium sponsor for the competition. This year, it will be held on July, 12, and will also be in honour of the 75th anniversary of the operation of Lulley’s.

“We are thrilled to support the Sylvester Simmons Foundation’s Annual Fisherman’s Day, a beloved event celebrating the heart of our community: our fishermen,” Mark states, as he outlined the details of the fishing competition as follows:

Saturday, July 12, 2025; 9:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m.

Location: Port Elizabeth, Bequia – under the Almond Tree.

Categories include:

• Trolling

• In-shore casting

•Hand line fishing.

Cash prizes up to $1,000!

Registration forms are available at Lulley’s Fishing Supplies (Bequia & mainland).

Deadline: Friday, July, 11 by 3:00 p.m.

Entry Fee: $15

Catch of the Day will be sold on-site under the Almond Tree.
