Lulley’s Fishing Supplies: A generational legacy rooted in the Caribbean Sea

In 1950, Ross Lulley and his wife Shirley, made a bold decision that would shape the future of fishing in the Southern Caribbean. Initially visiting Bequia as tourists, the couple fell deeply in love with the island’s charm, beauty, and seafaring spirit. Rather than return to their life in the United States, they stayed and laid the foundation for what would become Lulley’s Fishing Supplies, a now iconic name in Caribbean maritime commerce.

From its humble beginnings as a small store catering to local fishermen, Lulley’s Fishing Supplies quickly became a trusted resource for quality gear, expertise, and community connection. Ross’s fishing knowledge and Shirley’s business acumen created a strong partnership that endured through changing times, tough seasons, and growing demand.

Today, their son, Mark Lulley, runs the business. He has carried on his parents’ legacy with the same passion and integrity. Under his leadership, the company has grown into the region’s largest fishing and diving equipment, nets and lobster trap wire importer. With retail locations in Kingstown (St. Vincent), Port Elizabeth (Bequia), and various distributors, Lulley’s serves a broad cross-section of the maritime community- from traditional seine fishermen to modern sport fishers, and local divers to international yacht owners.

Their product range includes a comprehensive selection of fishing tackle, twines, lures, spear-fishing gear, snorkelling and diving  diving equipment, marine ropes, and safety tools. The business also custom-fabricates nets and rigging solutions to support specialized commercial and artisanal needs.

More than a store, Lulley’s Fishing Supplies is a cornerstone of economic and cultural life in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Generations of fishermen have relied on the Lulley name for gear, honest advice, fair pricing, and unwavering support.

Over the years, Lulley’s has supported the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, particularly through partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture, and more specifically, the Fisheries Department. Working side by side with these institutions, the company has played a key role in shaping the structure of the Blue Economy, offering technical support, gear supply, and hands-on involvement in numerous national projects to strengthen marine livelihoods and sustainability.

The company’s management under Mark Lulley is built on strong family involvement and long-standing staff, who are employees and shareholders. This inclusive approach ensures that the people contributing to the company’s growth are invested in its continued success. The staff’s loyalty, dedication, and experience are the true pillars of Lulley’s success story. Their deep knowledge, hard work, and community connection drive the business forward.
