Covid 19 preparedness tips for parents and guardians

Ensure that your child / ward does not have any signs of illness, like a sore throat, cough, flu like symptoms each morning. If your child exhibits any symptoms or has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, they should not go to school.

Ensure that child / ward has hand sanitizers or hand soap and a face mask or covering in their bags daily.

Remind your child/ ward of the importance of washing their hands, sneezing in a tissue or elbow to avoid the spread of the virus.

Encourage your child/ ward to be avoid sharing pens, pencils, water bottles, etc. to avoid the spread of the virus.

Speak to your child/ ward to keep the recommended physical distance from other students and large groups.

If your child rides a bus, ensure that they wear a mask during each commute.

Dialogue with your child / ward’s school on their plans to help ensure that students are following practices to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Have multiple face masks or covers that are marked with your child’s name to avoid misplacing them. Practice properly putting on and taking off cloth face masks with your child while avoiding touching the cloth portions.

Remind your child that they should clean their hands before and after touching their mask.

Instruct your child to never share or trade masks with others.
