Man ordered to pay for boxing woman in the eye

A 23-year-old man has been ordered to compensate the mother of his child $1,500 for boxing her in the eye.

When Ricardo Letteen, a resident of Diamond, appeared before magistrate Rickie Burnett at the Colonarie Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, December 7, he pleaded guilty to assaulting Alanique Anderson on December 1.

He is said to have hit her after accusing her of being with other men.

Anderson told the court that during the seven years she has been with Leteen, he has beaten her on occasion. She asked the court to order Letteen not to have any contact with her.

The young woman, uncertain if she wanted compensation, softly explained that she was still having problems with her eye.

Prosecutor Delroy Tittle strongly urged Letteen to change his ways.

“Stop beat up women; when alyo beat and kill them, my sons coming up, they won’t get any.”

Tittle asked the court to grant Anderson some compensation to assist with her medical bills.

Magistrate Burnett commented that young women are so afraid of the men that they don’t want to speak (referring to the fact that Anderson was mumbling).

Letteen was given until March 15, 2018 to compensate her $1,500. In default, he will spend six months in prison.(CJ)
