Morning sickness and caries

Since Morning Sickness is a common problem during the first trimester of pregnancy, women at this stage of pregnancy are advised to brush about an hour after vomiting. Vomiting is a common symptom associated with morning sickness.{{more}}

Pregnant women are advised to delay brushing, as vomiting leads to acid attack, which erodes the enamel from teeth and immediate brushing will further erode the enamel, thereby exposing your teeth to caries.

After vomiting, the mouth shold be rinsed with an alcohol-free fluoride containing mouthwash. This will protect your teeth from acid attack from the stomach.
