Grenadians make court appearance in SVG

Three Grenadians who escaped custody and entered St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) illegally made their first appearance in court on Monday.

Atiba Stainslaus, Ron Mitchell and Trevon Robertson allegedly entered SVG sometime on Tuesday, February 19, 2024 after escaping lawful custody in St George Police Station located in Grand Anse in Grenada.

The men were held in Grenada on charges of rape, robbery with violence and other serious offenses.

It is believed that the men, after escaping from the police station, hijacked a yacht belonging to a US couple and made their way to SVG, arriving on the Leeward coast. The yacht, Simplicity, was found beached at the Wallilabou Bay on Wednesday February 21.

The bodies of the couple have not yet been recovered.
