SVG records its 11th death from COVID19

An 87-year-old male is the 11th person to die from Covid-19 in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

A release from the National Emergency Management Organization said the elderly man died on April 26 while in isolation at the Argyle Isolation Facility.

Meanwhile, five new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from 32 samples processed on April 25, resulting in a positivity rate of 15.6%.

Over the weekend, 10 new positive cases were reported.

Six of these were reported on April 22 from 120 samples, resulting in a positivity rate of 5 percent; on April 23, four positive cases were reported from 155 samples, resulting in a positivity rate of 2.6%. No positive cases were reported from 42 samples processed on April 24.

“No new recoveries were recorded leaving the number of total recoveries at 1711. One hundred and twenty-two (122) cases are currently active and 11 persons with COVID-19 have died. One thousand, eight hundred and forty-four (1844) cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines since March 2020,” the release said.

The public is urged to continue to use masks, sanitize, physically distance and get vaccinated to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
