Product Review: Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink LipStick

I’ve seen this product a few times, as I have frequented the many beauty stores between Kingstown and Arnos Vale, but I have never purchased. Well, that narrative has changed. I wanted to support a friend and I purchased one from her. First things first, the packaging is cute and the colour on the tube is the exact colour of the lipstick, which is quite helpful. The wand is quite easy to use and gives for precision application at the lines. It has a very subtle sweet scent which is not different than some lipsticks.

As I started applying it, the formula was as soft as satin. At this point, I was wondering if it would even give that matte effect due to how smooth it was. After the application it takes a few seconds, then it starts to matte, but does not dry out, a problem that most matte lipsticks suffer. It still felt moist and was very lightweight and pigmented. I gave it a full day of wear and tear, such as eating and talking and it did not budge. It stayed put with no transfer, no loss of pigmentation or moisture. The only minor issue I had was getting it off. It must be done with some form of oil and wiping, then exfoliation of some sorts. I used my face wash with a bit of baking soda and that did the trick, but getting it off is not for the weak of heart.

All in all, I have purchased another one due to its advantages. It’s a bite more costly than I am accustomed to, but if the price at the stores are too high I would advise you take a look at the Buy/Sell groups on Facebook for competitive prices.
