COP to fisherfolk: ‘There is no threat to you going to sea to ply your trade’
VINCENTIANS WHO USE THE SEA to make an honest living are being asked to continue doing so without fear of being blown out of the water by United States of America (USA) drone strikes.
The was the word on Wednesday, March 31, 2026 from Commissioner of Police (COP) Enville Williams, who said during a press briefing at the Ministry of National Security that fisherfolk should go to sea as normal.
Commander of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard (SVGCG) Deon Henry, speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, February 19, 202ww6 confirmed that a USA drone strike killed three St. Lucians in waters off Canouan on Friday February 13, 2026 and it took place close to Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs), at approximately 45 miles south east of mainland St. Vincent, and about 32 miles east of Canouan, placing it within the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
