Dey blow me mine again

Dey blow me mine again

Ah think was August last year ah wrote how dem students at St Martin Secondary School blow me mine at de conclusion ah dey Summer Program. Dey had participated in ah project called STEM, ah-crow-name foh Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, de brain child of a group of committed teachers headed by Petrus Gumbs, an IT Graduate Teacher.{{more}} Students, 12 to 14 years were designing dey own computer games, producing Art wuk, Architectural and Engineering Drawings in three dimensions, animated stuff dat we see on TV Ads and Cartoons. Dey were being prepared foh de real world of wuk.

So ah giving full marks to de National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) headed by Ah-pull-low Knights, foh providing ah forum foh de nation’s youths from de various Secondary and Tertiary Schools, to display dey skills in IT is like ” Come show me yuh motion” in computer programming. De ‘Show Down’ dubbed de “NTRC I2 Competition Finals” took place last week Choose-dey at de NIS Conference Room. Trust me, it was ah most interesting evening that lasted over eight hours, ending after midnight. Ah left at 10 p.m. past my bedtime. Hon. Calm-low Gonsalves, Minister of IT was still there when ah left, busy wid his ‘Tablet’ documenting every presentation. Ah looked at dis fine young man, and silently ah asked de Lord to give him his own boots so he can walk in his own footstep, refraining from ah politics of lies and victim-I-say-shun, footsteps of purity and cleanliness. Amen!

Back to de NTRC’s I2 Competition which was divided into two categories: de ‘Idea Category’ and de ‘Mobile Applications’ foh both Secondary and Tertiary schools. Dey were four sections with a total of twenty Presentations of which five came from de Student Nurses, and five from St Martin Boys, Big Up de Nurses and St Martin Boys. The young people were all on target. Some ah de programs not only identified daily problems dat de public experience doing business at Go-venom-men’t departments, but presented ideas to help improve efficiency, de Book Loan School and Agriculture Department were typical examples. North Union came out on top. Unfortunately, ah had to slip away foh a short while and ah didn’t see dey presentation, but ah heard dey were very good. My reservation, however, is dat most ah de presentations were theoretical, dey did not get into presenting any visual Applications. De exception was de St Martin boys who went into game development, making use of animations and art work, tourism promotions and games dat one can plug into one’s computer and play. Ah don’t know what de Judges were asked to look for, to me at times, de questioning was about how smart de judges and not de youths are… Ah love de Grammar School’s innovations on Agriculture, and if I were an investor looking foh ah program to market immediately, St. Martin’s Boys applications on “Battlefield Soufriere” and “Heritage Quest” both tour-is-him promotions would ah get some business from me.

Just about everything went down well, de NIS Conference Room provided great ambience, de Caterer was on target, nuff and tasty eats. But special mention foh de Cheer-person, Shontell Murphy, USF Project Officer NTRC, one of last year’s Island Scholars. She has not taken up her scholarship in medicine at de UWI as yet, but she was excellent, confident, spoke de Queen’s English, already she has de qualities of ah professional.

SELLING GREEN PARTY CARD

Dey’s dis story way ah Pass-ah wid ah Diploma special-lies-in de Sexes. He decided to inculcate more human-is-him into ah Pussy Cat he had, get it to display good table manners, how to use de knife and fork, eating only fish, chicken and so, no more Rats and Mice. Anxious to present his Pet Project, de Pass-ah invited all his sex-see colleagues to dinner, planning of course to have de Pussy Cat shock dem wid cult-cha and ate-eh-kit. Pussy was dressed in Tux and seated at de head ah de table. All eyes were closed for de blessing ah de food, ah Mice zipped across de table and was about to get away wid ah bite of cheese. Right away de Pussy Cat, who never lost his smell foh Mice and Cheese went after de Mice. Dey play Cat’n’Mice, pulling de table cloth tun over de whole dinner, food spread all over de floor, plates and dishes smashed. Dinner mash-up and out went de Pass-ah experiment. De moral of de story is: “Ah Pussy Cat will always be ah Pussy Cat, and ah Sexy Pass-ah will always remain ah Sexy Pass-ah.” Therefore ah Pastor Sexy Pussy-Cat will always be ah…. Lie Za does mek me laugh, she say de man did nothing wrong, de Green Cards dat was selling belong to I-fan Own-heel Green Party And wid dat is gone ah gone again!

One Love Bassy.
