Can high blood pressure lead to diabetes?

Question – Does having high blood pressure over a few years’ time lead to diabetes?

Answer:
Dear Reader,

Sometimes it really looks like high blood pressure can cause diabetes because many people who have one disease also have the other! But in truth, high blood pressure does NOT CAUSE diabetes. There are three diseases who like to hang out together: diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. This trifecta of trouble can cause all kinds of trouble together or on their own. High blood pressure itself causes all kinds of problems, including kidney and heart disease, sexual dysfunction, as well as high risk for stroke. So even without causing diabetes, you should always definitely have high blood pressure treated.

All the best to you. Thanks, readers, for your questions! Keep them coming! Stay well and healthy, Vincies, until next week 🙂
