Lau Browne lowers mark in 100m Hurdles
ONE WEEK AFTER recording her personal best of 15.14 seconds at the Kineke Alexander Hurdles/ Sprints/ Throws Classic at the Sir Vincent Beache Stadium at Diamond on February 14, 2026, Lau Browne has gone sub-15 seconds in the 100 metres Hurdles.
At the Speed Capital Caribbean Invitational and Carifta Qualifier, last Saturday, February 21, 2026, Browne lowered that time to 14.68 seconds, as she won in the females 17 to 18 age group.
Her mission though, is to attain the qualification standard which could put her in good stead as part of the St Vincent and the Grenadines team to the 2026 Carifta Games in Grenada which will run from April 4 to 6.
Browne’s target is 14.20 seconds, which is the St Vincent and the Grenadines minimum standard for the event.
Persons intimate with Track and Field in SVG believe that the Hurdles should be one of the events on which Team Athletics SVG should place more emphasis.
Team Athletics SVG will hold its official Carifta trials on March 7 and 8 at the Sir Vincent Beache Stadium.
