SVGFF hosts Under-13 Female Football Festival
The Theon Gordon-led technical department of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF), hosted the North Windward Zone of the Female Under-13 Football Festival on December 31, 2025, at the Chili Playing Field, Georgetown.
The non-competitive event brought together primary school students from North Windward, North Central Windward and Marriaqua on a day where they got a chance to showcase their football skills.
Aimed at getting young females involved in the sport, the festival was summed up by President of the SVGFF Otashie Spring, as an investment in the future of St Vincent and the Grenadines’ football.
Addressing those present, Spring underscored that, “Events like this, are very important to us as a Federation, because grass-roots development is where everything begins. When we invest in our girls at this level, we are investing in the future of football in St Vincent and the Grenadines”.
Close to 50 females were in attendance, and Spring said the event was more than just a one-day affair.
“We want our girls to know that there is a pathway for them in football. What starts here today can lead to national representation and even international opportunities,” he noted. “This festival is not just about competition. It is confidence, teamwork, discipline and giving our young players a safe and positive environment to grow both on and off the field.”
Buoyed by the success of the most recent undertaking, Spring gave the assurance that more festivals will be convened throughout the length and breadth of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The participants of the festival had their transportation costs to and from the Chili Playing Field, covered by the SVGGFF. They were also provided with snacks, a meal, and presented with tokens at the end of the festival.
