New talents emerge from Junior Tennis Tourney
The 2025 St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association unearthed some emerging talents, during the December 17 to 21 hosting of the Junior Christmas Tennis Tournament at the National Tennis Centre at Villa.
Among the new names that came to the fore was Love All Tennis Academy’s Amina Lucas, who took the Girls Under-10 and Under-12 singles titles.
Amina thus continued the family tradition of producing national junior champions, following in the footsteps of her elder siblings- Afi and Afe Lucas.
Incidentally, Amina is entering the limelight right on cue with the departure of Afe from the Junior Tennis circuit.
In her swan song tournament Afe copped the Girls Under-18 singles title, and with Loukyha Premraj won the Under-18 doubles.
Also copping two singles titles was Keyondre Gaymes who won the Boys Under-10 and Under-12 singles; as well as Ethan Kent, who won in the Boys Under-14 and Under-18.
Meanwhile, Loukyha Premraj claimed the Girls Under-14 singles title.
In Doubles play, Keyondre Gaymes teamed up with Judah Abbott to win the Boys Under-14, and the duo of Ethan Kent and Keythron Gaymes secured the Under-18 title.
Those finishing in runner up spots in the singles were Elania Grant (Girls Under-10); Zhara Hypolite (Girls Under-12) Nathaniel Sheen (Boys Under-10); Zion Byfield- Grant (Boys Under-12); Danelle Kennedy (Girls Under-14); Loukyha Premraj (Girls Under-18); Keython Gaymes (Boys Under-14 and Under-18).
Settling for second in the doubles were Tarell Nichols and Rio Marks- Dasent (Boys Under-14); Jason Fraser and Khaled Hope (Boys Under-18); and Sky Cato and Mya Gun-Munro (Girls Under-18).
Beyond the competition, Sky Cato and Tayan Harry received the female and male sportsmanship awards, respectively.
