Vincentian Racers stake a flag at Caribbean Motor Racing Festival
WHILE ELECTION VICTORIES took centre stage at home, a different kind of race later unfolded across the ocean, with Vincentian drivers carving their names into Barbados’ motor sport history at the 2025 Caribbean Motor Racing Festival.
A 13-member Vincentian contingent travelled to Barbados for the weekend of events, competing at separate meets hosted by the Barbados Association of Dragsters & Drifters (BADD), and the Barbados Auto Racing League (BARL). Drivers Elton Bailey and Chad Francis flew the Vincentian flag high with trophy-winning runs.
Bailey, driving his high-performance BMW M3 Competition, took home the title in the 10second bracket at Drag Fest 2025, held on the Belle Highway. Clocking a blistering 10.5 seconds, he did not just keep pace with regional rivals, he left them chasing his tail lights.
Over at Bushy Park circuit, fellow Vincentian, Chad Francis, pushed his nimble Mitsubishi Eclipse to the edge of grip, securing first place in the Time Attack event with a time of 1- minute 13 seconds. His win follows his outstanding performance in Tarmac Takeover in October, at Arnos Vale, St Vincent and the Grenadines where he set the fastest time of the day. Having conquered home turf, Francis was determined to take on the region, and he delivered.
The Vincentian contingent, though small, drew support from Caribbean Motorsport fans across the region. Their performance in Barbados stands as a proud moment for local motor sports, a reminder that Vincentian racers continue to push back against the current and carve out their place on the regional stage, a member of the fraternity concludes.
