Lady Heat in good spirits despite heavy defeat
A 14-0 DRUBBING by Mexico last Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, has not daunted the spirits of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Senior Women’s Football team, christened Lady Heat.
That positivity was expounded by the head coach of the Vincentian outfit, Alnif Williams.
“They are the ones who are making me feel good as a head coach, as they have taken the defeat as part of their learning curve and are prepared to work even harder in the upcoming matches,” Coach Williams said.
St Vincent and the Grenadines was always under the pump from the first whistle as the Mexicans never relented.
The talismatic Charlyn Corral registered seven of the goals, scoring in the 6th , 22nd, 45th, 61st, 86th, 90 th and 90 + 3 minutes.
Jacqueline Ovalle had a hat-trick as she registered goals in the 14th,57th and 65th minutes, while Scarlett Camberos did so in the 25th; Alice Soto in the 55th; Montserrat Saldivar in the 73rd; and Maria Sanchez in the 75th as they added to the tally.
Apart from the disparaging scoreline, Williams admitted that it was the sternest test for all the players within their relatively short career representing St Vincent and the Grenadines.
“For all of us, it was the biggest match, and as head coach- the same holds for me and the players expressed that same sentiment stating they have never faced players of that calibre before,” Williams disclosed.
With the Mexico matchup out of the way,Williams and his charges will be back on the training ground next week, before taking a break for the Christmas season.
“We are going to regroup, work on the things that we faltered in the Mexico match and focus on our next assignment, ” Williams noted.
St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Lady Heat faces Puerto Rico in Puerto Rico on February 26, 2026.
