Windwards Under-15 cricket tournament now scheduled for Grenada
THE WINDWARD ISLANDS Cricket Board has decided to move the 2025 Windward Islands Under-15 Cricket Tournament from Saint Lucia to Grenada, due to venue challenges.
St Lucians go to the polls on Monday, December 1, 2025, and preparation for the tournament is most tasking as a result.
In an email dated Sunday, November 23, 2025, Romel Currency, CEO of the Windward Islands Cricket Board stated: “The tournament was been shifted to Grenada because of anticipated challenges with venues, the date of the tournament is December 6 – 15 inclusive of travel days.”
This year’s tournament will see a change in the eligibility age range, as Cricket West Indies will no longer host the Regional Rising Stars Under-17 male cricket tournament, held annually in Trinidad and Tobago.
With regional opportunities restricted due to CWI’s decision to remove a number of regional tournaments, it is expected that players will take advantage of the new age grouping.
The Windward Islands Cricket Board has therefore decided to extend the age range to players 16 years and under. “Eligible players must be Under 15 as of Aug 31, 2025. For practical reasons, the WICB thought it necessary and appropriate to adopt the same age category that CWI will use for the March/April, 2026 CWI Regional Under-15 tournament,” Currency explained.
WINLOTT Inc, principally known for its Super 6 lottery game in the four Windward Islands, has been the main sponsor of the Under-15 tournament since 2015, and is expected to also sponsor this year’s tournament.
Dominica are the Windward Islands Under-15 cricket defending champions. Teams from St.Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia, and host Grenada, will join Dominica to battle for Under-15 youth cricket supremacy.
