Lady Heat takes on Mexico this Saturday
FROM 7:00 P.M ON Saturday, November 29, 2025, St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Senior Women’s Football team, Lady Heat, will play Mexico at the Arnos Vale Playing Field in Group A of the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers.
It will be the first meeting between the two countries in the women’s play, and with a major disparity in their respective rankings.
The latest Fifa rankings show St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Lady Heat at 162nd, whilst Mexico is at 29th.
Despite this, Lady Heat’s captain, Chelsea Cordice said a press briefing last Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the conference room of the La Vue Hotel, Villa Point, that they are not going to let the Mexicans have it their own way.
“Our favourite word right now is belief. We believe that we are able to do whatever we put our minds to,” Cordice said.
While not stating that they would upstage the more accomplished Mexicans, she said they will endeavour to be competitive.
Cordice will lead the Vincentian midfield that also includes Ashante Browne, Cherish La Borde, Denella Creese, Dionte Delpesche, Neveah Richards, along with Sonja Mc Kie.
Three goal keepers, Altica Benn,Tishana James and Zilla Drayton, are also part of the 24-member squad.
The defence will be selected from Azumi Quow, De ‘Andrea Barbour, Kelisha Bowens, Kendra Findlay, Melanie Stowe, Raedawn Nanton, Samayaa Connell and Shanyah Peters, with Areka Hooper, Asanteni Charles, Christi
Laborde, Kianna Logan, Kittana Richards and Meyia Wilson, the forwards.
Meanwhile, marketing officer at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, Candy Edwards is urging Vincentians to attend Saturday’s match and give the national female ambassadors their fullest support.
“I want you to come out and support Lady Heat; they need it; we need it.
SVGFF knows that the public supports us and love us, and we feel the same, but we need to feel that love on Saturday,” Edwards said.
Puerto Rico, St Lucia, and the United States Virgin Islands are the other teams in Group A of the qualifiers.
According to the format of the qualifiers, Lady Heat like the other teams will play two home matches and two away matches.
