SVGTTA gets new Executive
A nine- member executive led by Terrance Marksman will be responsible for the affairs of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association (SVGTTA) for the next four years.
The new executive was installed last Saturday night, November 1, 2025, when the association staged a special meeting at the hall of the St Vincent Grammar School, for the said purpose.
Marksman, chosen as president defeated Dexter Phillips 28-25 in a two- way race.
Taking up the position of vice -president was Syon Shoy, who warded off Romano Spencer 26-24; while
Hazelann Foster became the honorary secretary defeating Angenella King Matthews, 27-23.
Meanwhile, Xavier Jack edged out Mikael Hazelwood, 25-24 to assume the position of treasurer.
The close elections saw Leighton Adams and Stanton Gomes each registering 24 votes, but Adams conceded, thus making Gomes the public relations officer.
The executive was completed with the installation of the three committee members- Unica Velox, Samuel Omidoyin and Joseph Carrington.
Velox amassed 42 votes; Omidoyin 26; and Carrington, 28.
The trio thus defeated Sean Stanley who picked up 23 votes, and Caleb Howard, 24 votes.
The special meeting was called after former president, Orville Haslam stepped down effective October 31,2025.
Haslam’s decision followed that of two other principal officers- Vice President, Truman Quashie; and Honorary Secretary, Shari Ollivierre.
Hence, the Haslam- led executive, elected in December 2022, did not complete its four year tenure, which was set to end in December, 2026.
