SVG to host Americas Netball World Cup Qualifiers
St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), will be the host for at least 12 regional teams from the Americas Netball Region, along with delegates and other officials for the 2026 Americas Netball World Cup qualifiers in October, 2026, following the official awarding of the qualifiers on October 29, 2025.
Two teams are expected to qualify from the October 13 – 23, 2026 qualifiers to join Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls to represent the Americas Region at the Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia, from August 25 to September 2,2027.
President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association (SVGNA), Natasha Baptiste, said “This will be a great opportunity for sports tourism and an ideal time for our Vincy Jewels to compete on home soil”.
She added “One major element that helped us to secure the bid was the official letter of commitment from the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to ensure that our Arnos Vale Sporting Complex is transformed into an indoor facility”.
“We look forward to this development, as it will change the landscape for all sporting disciplines that require indoor venues to host regional competitions without concern for weather conditions.”
At their last outing at the Americas Netball World Cup Qualifiers in Jamaica in October, 2022, St. Vincent and the Grenadines placed third behind Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados- those teams joined Jamaica in South Africa for the 2023 World Cup.
Since then St. Vincent and the Grenadines has won a bronze medal at the CAC Games in El Salvador in 2023, silver at the 2023 OECS / ECCB International Netball Series in Antigua and Barbuda, and won the 2024 and 2025 ECCB International Netball Series in St. Lucia and Grenada, respectively.
Meanwhile work on the construction of the netball facility at Arnos Vale is expected to begin shortly, and be completed by June 2026.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Senior National Netball team, ‘Vincy Jewels’ last played on home soil in the 2019 OECS / ECCB International Netball Series, and when the tournament returned following the COVID-19 pandemic, they journeyed to Dominica where they won the 2022 regional title.
