OECS Swimming Championships springs off this weekend in SVG
The Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre, Ratho Mill, will be the venue for the 33rd edition of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Swimming Championships which run from November 7-9, 2025.
St Vincent and the Grenadines is therefore hosting back-to-back championships coming on the heels of them also hosting the 2024 edition of the event.
The country will welcome seven teams from: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, and St Lucia.
The host country, St Vincent and the Grenadines will field a squad of 29 swimmers- 13 females and 16 males.
The SVG team has as coach, Tamarah St Hilaire and Anwar Medjihad.
Coach Medjihad, said she believes their charges are poised to deliver once again.
“The swimmers have been training hard for the past few weeks and have shown commitment and discipline. I have no doubt that they will do well at the OECS Championships, after all the effort put into the training for the meet. We believe they are going to do their country proud.”
When the championships were held last year, St Vincent and the Grenadines placed third, with a tally of 1102 points. In addition SVG came away with two age group titles copped by Jadon Hamilton, in the Male 11-12 age group, and Hazen Dabriel who secured the Male 13-14 title.
In 2024, St Vincent and the Grenadines registered three individual OECS records and three sub- regional relay records.
This is the third occasion that St Vincent and the Grenadines is hosting the sub- regional Swim Championships, having first done so in 2019.
