Vincy sailors show class in regional championships

Two teenage sailors represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the 2025 Caribbean Dinghy Championships, hosted by the Antigua Yacht Club from October 23-26,2025, returning home with one medal.

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Association (SVGSA), in a release said the representatives were 13-year-old Joshua Weinhardt and 14-year-old Kai Marks-Dasent. It was the second time the SVGSA was participating in the Championships.

Weinhardt, in his first regional regatta, delivered a standout performance, finishing second overall in the ILCA 4 fleet.

Weinhardt, who started sailing six years ago has recently benefitted from two years being coached as part of the Sailing Association’s Elite squad.

Meanwhile, Marks-Dasent the youngest competitor in the ILCA 6 fleet, finished in fourth place, a position the SVGSA described as impressive.

SVG debuted at the Championships in 2024.
