Sunday Sweaterz retain Masters’ Independence Football Title
FC Sunday Sweaterz regained their hold of the Comsports Independence Seven-a-side Football title when they dethroned 2024 winners, Roger’s Photo Studio Older Boys last Monday night, October 27, 2025 at the Comsports facility, Arnos Vale.
A Shane Daniel goal landed Sweaterz their second lien on the title, following their win in 2023, the second year of the competition.
Sweaterz, who had a waltz through the competition defeated Sion Hill 2-1 in the quarter finals, and inaugural winners, Hope International 1-0 in the semifinals.
Hope International, the 2022 champions, went on to take the third place, defeating Largo Height 2-0 in the play-off.
Sweaterz thus collected $2,700 and a trophy; Older Boys received $1,350 and a trophy; and Hope International, walked away with $675 and a trophy.
Shane Daniel, Player of the Competition, earned himself a trophy and $200; as did the top goal scorer, Javid Gibson of South Leeward.
Additionally, the organisers presented a trophy to the Most Valuable Players of each competing unit.
The recipients were Eric Lewis of Sunday Sweaterz; Wesley Charles- Older Boys; Cauldric Sutherland- Hope International; Arnett John- Largo Height; Jason Walrond- Sion Hill; Billy Jeffers- Layou; Anthony Abrams- Pele Masters of New York; Emerald George- South Leeward; Mackneil Lewis- Barrouallie; and Allister Williams – Marriaqua.
