SVG Squash Association buoyant after World Squash Day commemoration
The National Squash Centre was bursting at its seams last Saturday, October 10, 2025, as the St Vincent and the Grenadines Squash Association observed World Squash Day, 2025.
The six hours of activities kept the participants fully engaged as they did not only played Squash but also participated in board games, hand games and kept their hand- eye coordination going through use of the table tennis board.
The day left the executive committee of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Squash Association buoyant, as they attained new levels of participation.
“We are overwhelmed with the turnout of players, parents, friends of Squash inclusive of past players as well, truly this is remarkable for Squash here in St Vincent and the Grenadines and we can only build on this type of encouraging and positive signs”, president Amber Glasgow SEARCHLIGHT.
She was equally delighted that a few youngsters went along and tried their hand at the sport, thus giving added impetus for growth and posterity.
In the same vein, Glasgow paid homage to the corporate partners who continue to support Squash, whilst encouraging others to come on board.
“We have forged some partnerships here with businesses and that helps us stay afloat, but we can do with some more assistance, because within the Caribbean, St Vincent and the Grenadines is seen as a force, especially among our Junior players.” Glasgow noted.
World Squash Day was first observed in 2002, in the USA, as a group of squash players paid respect to their fallen squash colleagues who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack.
