Peto FC takes North Leeward football title
Golden Grove came alive on Sunday, October, 12, 2025 with the staging of the finals of the North Leeward Soccer Tournament, sponsored by Rudy’s Electrical, and Hairoun Beer. Following weeks of thrilling matches, Peto FC emerged as the 2025 Champions, defeating Keartons FC 3-1 in a competitive and entertaining final which showcased the best of community football, as both teams displayed discipline and talent.
The awards ceremony brought the curtains down on the tournament as outstanding performances were celebrated.
Addresses at the closing ceremony were delivered by the tournament’s coordinator, Dwight Roberts; President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, Otashie Spring; President of the North Leeward Sports and Culture Organization, Elron Lewis; and parliamentary representative for North Leeward, Carlos James.
Each of the speakers spoke highly of the players, and also commended the organizers and sponsors for their commitment to community sports and youth development.
The following outstanding performers were rewarded:
Best goalkeeper, Wasbert Perri; best defender, Channis Frazer; best midfielder, Shamon Hooper; most goals, Kirtney Franklin (13).
Kirtney Franklin copped the MVP of the finals award, as well as the accolade of MVP of the tournament.
In the team awards, Peto FC received the championship trophy, and Keartons FC received the trophy for placing second.
President of the North Leeward Sports and Culture Organization, Elron Lewis, commenting on the tournament said, “The atmosphere was electric, the crowd passionate, and the football” was “simply top class.”
