Spring Village retakes North East Football title
After losing out to Greiggs in the 2024 final, Spring Village of Georgetown made amends last Sunday, September, 21, 2025, as they reclaimed the North East Football title at the Chilli Playing Field.
The grand finale played under lights, saw Spring Village winning 5-4 on penalties over Overland, after both had played to a 2-2 tie in regulation time.
Respective braces from eventual Player of the Match, Denzel Bascombe for Spring Village, and Terrason Joseph for Overland, necessitated the decisive penalty kicks.
In the third place play off that preceded the final, Greiggs, the 2024 champions, ensured that they were part of the podium, as they beat Diamonds 6-1. A hat trick from Rockeem Delpesche, two from Steven Pierre, and one from Zidane Sam, accounted for Greiggs’ tally of goals. Anthony Browne scored for Diamonds.
The team pay out, saw Spring Village collecting $3,000 and a trophy; Overland, $2,000 and a trophy, and Greiggs, $1,000 and a trophy.
Spring Village also was highlighted in the individual awards, with Jimmel Lewis taking the Best Goalkeeper title, while the Best Defender prize went to Keron Thomas.
Losing finalist Overland also featured in the presentation ceremony, with siblings, Terrason and Terris Joseph receiving honours.
Terrason was adjudged the best striker and was the top goal scorer, and Terris copped the best midfielder award.
The most disciplined team award went to South Rivers.
