MP happy with start of repair at Sion Hill Village hard court

Parliamentary representative for East Kingstown, Fitzgerald Bramble, said he is pleased that repairs have begun on the Sion Hill Village hard court, but wants the job to be well done.

The pavilion was damaged during the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 1, 2024, and led the Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra (SHESO) whose pan yard is located on the hard court, having to relocate to the lower deck of the hard court.

On Monday, September, 15, 2025, workmen began the task of re-sheeting the pavilion and digging up the concrete on the hard court.

Acknowledging the response of the authorities Bramble, however commented, “I don’t think it should have taken me having to go into parliament and on the radio as well as different functions, basically begging them come and do it”.

He said he is looking forward to a well-done task and the return of the steel orchestra to its regular location.

“I hope they do a good comprehensive job and I hope the type of job they do, making sure he Sion Hill

Euphonium pan yard is well taken care of, in terms of no water leakage, because that is necessary,” the former national sportsman said as he visited the site of the work.

At the 2025 Summer Programme graduation ceremony for young pan players held on August, 31, 2025, Bramble and Chair of the SHESO,Warren Knights, vented their frustration with the inactivity in having the hard court repaired.
