Spring Sixers, and Golden Predators crowned North Leeward T20 champions

Spring Sixers and Golden Predators were crowned the 2025 Men’s and Women’s Champions of the Vinlec North Leeward Twenty/20 Softball Super League, held at the Petit Bordel Playing Field on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

In the men’s final, a gripping low-scoring contest ensued with Spring Sixers keeping cool heads to emerge champions over Fitz Hughes. Fitz Hughes, batting first, managed 80 for 7 in 20 overs; the major contributions coming from Raymond Matthews,17, Chris Howe, 12, and Dale Michael, 11.

The Sixers’ bowlers dominated, led by Rickel Stapleton who took 2 for 11 off 4 overs; Olani Slack, 2 for 22; and LeBron Douglas with 1 for 38.

In reply, the Sixers chased the required target with composure, finishing on 83 for 4 in 12.5 overs. Clemore Millington hit 24 off 30 deliveries; Augustus Francois, 13 off 11; and Akel Mason 11 not out off 9 balls as they sealed the victory, despite resisting the bowling of Chris Howe who ended with 2 for 26.

MVP of the finals went to Rickel Stapleton of Spring Sixers for a crucial all-round display first with the ball, taking 2 for 11, and a handy 11 runs with the bat.

Earlier, in the female finals, Golden Predators dominated the with an all-round team performance against Star Lights. Batting first, Predators posted 114 for 5 in 15 overs, thanks to a captain’s knock from Shanell Mckie, who hit 32 off 28 balls. Strong support also came from Shameka Creese, 21 off 17, and late hitting by Delitha Bentick, 8 not out off 2 balls. Extras contributed 22 wides.

In reply, Star Lights faltered under pressure and were bowled out for 37 in 9.2 overs. Only Klemesia Matthews, 7, and Clotilda Hooper, 4 not out, offered any sort of resistance. The Predators’ bowlers were ruthless, with Delitha Bentick, 3 for 11; Cassandra John, 2 for 13; and skipper Shanell Mckie, 1 for 4, dismantling the batting, Golden Predators therefore emerging the Women’s 2025 North Leeward Twenty/20 champions. The MVP of the finals was Delitha Bentick for her game-changing all-round effort of 3 for 11 runs, and a blistering 8 not out off 2 balls.
