​Hosts finish bottom again despite winning two categories

Hosts, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), as has been the case for a number of years, finished fourth in the overall points standings at the conclusion of the 2025 CBN / WINLOTT Windward Islands School Games, hosted at various venues from July, 26 to August, 2, 2025.

At the closing ceremony held at the Russell’s Auditorium on Saturday night, August 2, it was announced that the Vincentians won the netball and football competitions, but failed to secure a podium finished in the boys and girls basketball, boys and girls volleyball, and track and field competitions respectively, amassing a total of 19 points to finish in the cellar position. Saint Lucia finished third with 23 points, Dominica second with 29 points, and Grenada emerged champions with 41 points.

For the island MVPs in the various individual disciplines contested: for St Vincent and the Grenadines, Kessian John was MVP for girls’ basketball, while the boys MVP went to Jermari Ross.

Lazaro Lynch was St Vincent and the Grenadines’ MVP in football, with Juneka Quow the netball MVP. Maxianna Dublin, copped the girls’ volleyball MVP, and Damari Frederick the boys’ volleyball MVP.

Kevin Francis and Jannet Christopher were SVG’s successful coaches respectively.

This year was the 100th anniversary since the Windward Islands School Games commenced, and the four- island tournament has seen a number of outstanding athletes and leaders run its tracks. In fact, the current Ministers of Sports in St Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia in Dr Orando Brewster and Kenson Casimir respectively, are products of the Windward Islands School Games.
