Police Inter-Youth Clubs football competition opens at Calliaqua

THE CALLIAQUA Police Youth Club (PYC), trounced the Bequia PoliceYouth Club 3-1 in a friendly encounter following the official opening ceremony of the PoliceYouth Clubs inter-clubs football competition at the Calliaqua Playing Field last Saturday, October 15 Goals for Calliaqua were scored by Jamar Saunders-2 and 1 by Odey Cupid. The lone goal for the Bequia PYC was scored by Zero Compton.

The opening ceremony heard remarks from Commissioner of Police, Colin John; National PoliceYouth Clubs co-ordinator, Sergeant Stephen Billy; Samantha Lynch from the Division of Sports; Marvin Fraser from the National Sports Council; Josea Dasent from the SVG Football Federation, and Juno De-Roche representing the St Vincent Co-operative Bank, a release from the police said. Parliamentary Representative for East St George, Camillo Gonsalves delivered the feature address at Saturday’s opening ceremony which was pushed back by one week because of threatening weather conditions.

The Stubbs PoliceYouth Club was adjudged the Best Turned Out team at the march past.

The inaugural PoliceYouth Clubs Inter-clubs Football Competition will witness 22 clubs competing at seven venues in five zones.

Games will be played every weekend on playing fields at Biabou, Calliaqua, Keartons,London, Golden Grove, Redemption Sharpes, and Richland Park.

The competition will conclude on Sunday, November 13 at the Calliaqua Playing Field.
