Wilson, Da Breo hit straps in First Division cricket competition openers

St Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards Under-15 players Luke Wilson and Coby Da Breo were the stand out bowlers, as the National Lotteries Authority First Division of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc’s 2018 national cricket programme bowled off last Sunday.

Wilson, a right arm off spinner, bagged 6 for 13 from 8.1 overs, three of which were maidens, as he engineered the demise of St Vincent Co-operative Bank Glamorgan for 86 all out from 27.1 overs.

Wilson’s heroics with the ball was for Victors Two at the Buccament Bay Playing Field. Kishore Shallow assisted Wilson, as he picked up 2 for 18.

Shallow then stroked 22 not out, as Victors Two replied with 87 for 5 from 21.5 overs, to win by five wickets.

But Da Breo, a right arm medium fast bowler, was on the losing end at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field, despite taking 5 for 40, bowling for Radcliffe Too against Police One.

Da Breo’s efforts were the beam for Radcliffe Too, as Police One piled on 313 all out from 36. 4 overs.

Police One’s total saw Peter Morris hitting 59; Mahy Jim Bynoe – 52, Parnell Browne – 49 and Darrell Sam – 36. Police One’s total was also propped up by 42 extras conceded by Radcliffe Too.

In response, Radcliffe Too were dismissed for 162 in 24. 4 overs, to give Police One victory by 151 runs.

Kensley Joseph – 40, Daniel Mc Millan – 33 and 40 extras accounted for

Radcliffe Too’s insufficient reply.

At Arnos Vale One, Keegan’s Bequia won by 140 runs over Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO.

Cosmus Hackshaw lashed 3 fours and 4 sixes in making 61, while Braxie Browne contributed 33 and Chelson Stowe – 30, as Bequia compiled 205 all out from 30.1 overs.

Nelron Shortte took 4 for 29 and Kezron Ashton – 3 for 22, bowling for ASCO.

But ASCO’s batsmen could only put together 65 runs from 16.2 overs. Kenville Sam top scored with 21.

Dismantling ASCO’s batting were Leon Quashie – 4 for 22 and Razine Browne – 4 for 28.

And, at Park Hill, Smashers made light work of Strike Eagles by nine wickets.

Strike Eagles packed it in for 72. Edwarth Lewis made 22. Bowling for Smashers, Kesworth Lewis picked off 3 for 33, Anthony Charles – 2 for 16 and Marvin Harry – 2 for 17.

Ronald Scott then smothered 4 fours and 4 sixes in his 51 not out, to lead Smashers to 73 for 1 from just 6.2 overs.

Two matches are scheduled for this Sunday. At Buccament, Belfongo play Combine Youths and at Arnos Vale Two, North Windward Youths meet Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors. Both matches are set to get going at 10 a.m.(RT)
