TBPO softball cricket competition gets six hit by rain

It was a rain-hit weekend at the Dauphine Playing Field, for the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organization’s 20/20 Softball Cricket Competition, and there was minimal on-field action.

Only two matches, though curtailed, had enough sunlight to get a result, with the one completely rained out, and the other having no result.

In Saturday’s first match, Gomea Bombers won over Computec Older Boys by a faster run rate.

A late start reduced the match to 15 overs per side.

Ovando O’Brien hit 75, Keson Williams, 29 and Kendall Payne, 24, as Gomea Bombers had posted 176 for 6 in 14.3 overs when rain stopped play.

Bowling for Older Boys, Keith Constance had 2 for 28, Leon Chandler 2 for 45 and Arrington Burgin 2 for 55.

Older Boys were 28 for 4 from nine overs, when rain ended proceedings.

The rain was carried over, causing the other match set for Saturday, between Gairy’s Construction Simple Boyz and New Level, to be completely washed out.

The same was the case in Sunday’s first scheduled match, which should have featured Full Click and Smart Snipers.

But play, though limited, was possible when Dipcon Road Warriors faced Sion Hill Tallawahs.

Road Warriors batted first and scored 40 for 4 from their maximum 10 overs. Sion Hill Tallawahs responded with 46 for 2 from 4.3 overs, to win by eight wickets. Erwin Williams scored 35 not out.

And, Country Meet Town Outa Trouble and CGM Gallagher Novice shared the points in a no decision match.

Rain forced the match to be contested over 15 overs, which saw Outa Trouble reaching 74 for 9 from their lot.

Bowling for Novice, Venardo Primus captured 3 for 16, Darren Henry, 2 for 10 and Dante Williams, 2 for 23.

Novice were 9 for 1 from two overs, when rain halted the match.
