North East begins defence of Masters Cricket title

Teachers Credit Union North East got off to a good start, as they defended the SVG Masters 20/20 Cricket Competition.

Facing the Bequia Cricket Association Masters at the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Bequia on Sunday, North East came away victors by seven wickets.

Bequia Cricket Association were dismissed 109 all out off 19.2 overs, with Calvert Hazell top scoring with 31.

Winsbert Springer took 2 for 16, Olanzo Jackson, 2 for 11, Deighton Butler, 2 for 21 and Joseph Medford, who switched from Sion Hill, had 2 for 30, bowling for North East.

In reply, Harvey Pope led with 55 not out and Deighton Butler stroked 22, to see the 2014 and 2016 champions North East to 112 for 3 off 13.4 overs.
