Suzette Jordan in limelight at netball presentation ceremony

Suzette Jordan, of Metrocint General Insurance Limited Maple, emerged as the Most Improved Player in the 2017 FLOW National Netball Tournament.

A former national Under-23 player, Jordan, who plays in the goalkeeper and goal defence positions, was announced as the recipient at the tournament’s closing ceremony last Thursday at the Kingstown Netball Centre.

More recognition came Jordan’s way, as she was adjudged the Best Defensive Player in the Senior Division and was her team’s obvious choice of Most Valuable Player.

Many persons close to the sport believe that, based on her performance during this year’s tournament, Jordan will break into the senior team set-up for the revived Caribbean tournament next month.

But whilst Jordan is beginning to make her name for herself in national netball, her teammate, the durable Skiddy Francis-Crick was again the Top Goal Shooter in the Senior Division.

Francis-Crick’s accuracy – 90.65 per cent, played a significant part in Maple keeping an unblemished record in the Division One league competition, thus earning them the title.

The other senior player awards were snapped up by Western Union Mitres’ Nicole Sandy- Stevenson, who was listed as Best Attacking Player and Rosannia Stephens of French Verandah X-Ceed – the Best Mid-court Player.

The corresponding accolades were grasped by Shanice Humphrey, Shannon King, Monell Lavia and Jonelle John.

Humphrey, of Division Three outfit SVG General Services Maple, was voted Best Attacking Player and King, the Best Defending Player.

And, OSCO Ball Warriors’ Lavia and John, were the Best Mid-court and Most Goals awardees, respectively.
