Zefal Bailey goes out front in cycling calendar
Zefal Trevor Bailey was first out of the blocks and champed the first race of the 2016 calendar of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union.{{more}}
Bailey did not show any love on Valentineâs Day last Sunday, but instead took a ânar fren demâ approach in the 27-mile Subway sponsored event.
Bailey took 1 hour 33 minutes 55 seconds to traverse the distance, beating the ever-improving Enroy Lewis into second place. Lewis stopped the clock at 1 hour 36 minutes 12 seconds.
Taking the third place in 1 hour 44 minutes 56 seconds was the durable Peter Durrant, who, in the process, topped the mastersâ category.
The fourth cyclist to cross the finish line was Samuel Lyttle, whose timing was 1 hour 47 minutes 28 seconds.
Lyttle, who is up from the junior category, took the third place in the elite cyclistsâ rank, behind Bailey and Lewis.
Second to Durrant in the mastersâ was Randy Wilkinson, in 1 hour 48 minutes 23 seconds, to finish fifth overall.
The other places in order of finish were Steve Ollivierre â 1 hour 49 minutes 57 seconds, Deptor Culzac â 1 hour 52 minutes 44 seconds; Okera Sylvester â 1 hour 53 minutes 10 seconds and David Thomas â 1 hour 53 minutes 20 seconds.
Cyclists will return to the roads in back-to-back events on February 26 and 27.(RT)
