In the process, Valentine-Parris, who represented the Clafin University, erased the 14-year-old record of 21.70 seconds, which was set by Fitz-Allen Crick.
The previous national mark was set at the Terrier Open in Boston, USA, in January, 2002.
Valentine-Parris also recorded a time of 6.97 seconds in the 60 metres, placing fourth in the final.
Reports are this is the fastest time for a Vincentian over that distance, thus far in 2016.
The 20-year-old Valentine-Parris has represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at various levels, including Windward Islands Schools Games, OECS Championships, Junior Carifta, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and St Kitts and Nevis national championships, Hampton Games, NACAC seniors Penn Relays, World Juniors, World Youth, Commonwealth Youth Championships and the Commonwealth Games, among others.(RT)
