Instead of the five Cricketers of the Year, as has been the norm, there will be the âTop Three Male Cricketers of the Yearâ, âTop Three Female Cricketers of the Yearâ and the âTop Junior Cricketer of the Yearâ.
According to a release from the SVGCA: âAdditionally, for the first time, there will be two cash awards for the most smartly dressed male and female cricketers, which is sponsored by the SVG Young Professionals Association.â
The release further stated that president of the SVGCA Kishore Shallow noted that the latter award âis in line with the SVGCAâs efforts and encouragement for cricketers to be more professional.â
These awards will go along with the regular package of recompense for the top performers in all the SVGCA competitions held in 2015.
The SVGCA will also recognize newly appointed sports ambassador Lennox John and long standing cricket umpire and administrator Selwyn Allen.
Both are past St Vincent and the Grenadines cricketers, with John going on to represent the Windwards and the Combined Islands.
The theme for the 2015 award ceremony is âProfessionalism – A key ingredient for success in sports.â Manager of the St Vincent Co-operative Bank Ltd Laverne Gibson-Velox will deliver the Keynote Speech.
The ceremony is set to commence at 7 p.m. under the patronage of His Excellency the Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne and Lady Ballantyne.(RT)
