Apart from Bailey, the rest of the CCC executive comprises Keith Yearwood â first vice-president; Robert Farrier â second vice-president and Juelle Thorde â secretary.
Completing the executive are Cyril Mangal â assistant secretary treasurer; Waldo Ortz Ramirez â treasurer, Terry Gibson â public relations officer, along with Heni Bonafacio and Michel Marie â trustees.
Bailey told SEARCHLIGHT that among his executiveâs plans for the new term is the introduction of drug testing at the Elite Caribbean Championships, which he said can happen as early as 2016.
The long-standing president said that âdrug testing is just part of ensuring that the sport is above board.â
He noted that this is being done although there have been no accusations to date. Bailey revealed that establishment of a doping control commission with help from the Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO) is part of the way forward.
Apart from the doping commission, Bailey disclosed that other commissions: international relations, finance, womenâs, marketing, cyclists and technical would be activated with this tenure of the CCCâs executive.
Bailey added, âPart of our plans is to have a Caribbean team to compete against those from Europe and the Americas and to attract a full sponsor for our championships.
âWe also want to see the Caribbean Cycling Championships become an event sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale, so that our cyclist can obtain points,â Bailey projected.
Bailey confirmed that the UCI president Brian Cookson made a brief visit to St Vincent and the Grenadines, after attending the Elite Caribbean Championships in Barbados.(RT)
