Six teams win in round two of Masters’ Cricket Competition

Six outfits were triumphant when round two of the SVG Masters Twenty/20 Cricket Competition took place last weekend at various venues.{{more}}

At Arnos Vale One on Saturday, Stanley Browne’s Stubbs defeated Cato’s Heavy Equipment Glamorgan by 63 runs. Batting first, Stubbs totalled 154 for 4 off 20 overs, with Dawnley Joseph 67 not out and Leon Samuel, 55.

Kamal Buntyn took 2 for 33, bowling for Glamorgan, who in response made 89 all out off 20 overs.

Bowling for Stubbs, Cauldric Harry made 2 for 13 and Theo Wallace 2 for 27.

Also, RSVG Police overcame Rate Your Boys Challengers by 64 runs at the nearby Arnos Vale Two.

RSVG Police reached 142 for 8 off 20 overs; Gosnel Cupid made 33.

Paul Jordan and Tyrone Walker picked up 2 for 20 and 2 for 42, respectively for Challengers.

At their turn, Challengers were restricted to 98 for 8 from their 20 overs. Uzzah Pope made 38, as Parnel Browne, 2 for 14 and Carlos Sampson, 2 for 21, bowled the Police to victory.

When play was called on Sunday, Rudy’s Electrical Barrouallie defeated Belfongo by three wickets at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Belfongo scratched to 115 for 5 off 20 overs, with Tommy King top scoring with 65.

Augustine Bentick had 3 for 12 and Leroy Baker 2 for 8, bowling for Barrouallie, who then responded with 118 for 7 off 19.5 overs, topped by Garfield Charles’ 31.

Samuel Holder had 4 for 28, bowling for Belfongo.

Also in winner’s row was St Vincent Cooperative Bank P’tani, who defeated Bequia Cricket Association Masters by 78 runs at Arnos Vale Two.

P’tani, on the back of 50 not out from Isaac Haywood, Jerome Samuel – 39, Cassius Welcome – 33 and Alfred Mc Kenzie – 28, posted 176 for 2 off 20 overs.

Bequia, with their 98 all out off 19.3 overs, were undermined by the bowling of Pat Williams – 4 for 24; Ray Richards – 2 for 10 and Cassius Welcome – 2 for 12.

At the same venue, Sion Hill distanced Pastures by nine wickets.

Pastures were stifled for 73 for 9 off 20 overs, with Andrew Bramble 2 for 5; Joseph Medford – 2 for 7 and Gary Rodriguez – 2 for 25, being the restrictors.

Sion Hill then rushed to 81 for 1 in 10.3 overs. Joseph Carrington scored 37.

And Park Hill United beat Kirk Dasilva’s La Croix by two wickets at the Park Hill Playing Field.

La Croix made 123 for 7 off 20 overs; Ricky King got 26. Bowling for Park Hill, Chris Adams took 2 for 18.

Park Hill United reached 124 for 8 off 19.2 overs, but Benedict Phillips snared 5 for 15 in a losing cause.

Five matches are down for decision on Sunday.

From 10 a.m. at the Sion Hill Playing Field, La Croix takes on P’tani, while at Arnos Vale One, Barrouallie engages Challengers. At Arnos Vale Two, Glamorgan battles Marriaqua.

The afternoon fixtures, beginning at two at Arnos Vale One, pit RSVG Police against North Leeward. At Arnos Vale Two, it will be Pastures against Belfongo.(RT)
