Ministry of Reconciliation – champs in Inter-ministerial Table Tennis
The Ministry of Reconciliation has taken first place in the Inter-ministerial Table Tennis Competition, which ended last Wednesday at the hall of the St Vincent Grammar School.
Doing the trick in a competitive final, was the trio of Junior Byron-Cox, Romano Davis and Kimone Jack, as they defeated the Ministry of National Mobilization, whose representatives were Philcol Jeffers, Roger Young and Yoland London.{{more}}
In winning 3-2, Cox beat Philcol Jeffers – 11-9, 10-12, 11-9 and Young, 11-4, 12-10 and Romano Davis outlasted Young 4-11, 11-9, 11-7, while London saw off Jack 11-7, 11-8 and Jeffers had the better of Davis 11-1, 12-10.
Before reaching the championship match, Reconciliation surpassed the Ministry of Agriculture 3-1.
Byron-Cox beat Ahmed Baptiste 11-6, 11- 7 and side-stepped Ronal Daniel 11-3, 12-10, with Davis registering an 11-6, 11-7 downing of namesake Annah Davis.
Notching up the Ministry of Agricultureâs lone win was Baptiste, who beat Jack 11-1, 11-5.
The other half of the semi-finals resulted in a 3-1 win for National Mobilization over the Ministry of Health.
Jeffers beat Shafana Williams 11/6 11/4 and had an 11-1, 11-3 topping of Asquith Ballah, with London outplaying Jamel Providence 11-8, 11-7. Ballah, though, defeated Young 11-3, 11-5.
The Ministry of Reconciliation joins the Ministry of Transport and Works, which pouched the Street 20/20 cricket and the football components of the Inter-ministerial Gamesâ calendar.
The month of September would see the discipline of netball being contested among the various ministries.
