Titans bag Under-16 title in Bequia Basketball tourney
One title has been decided in the 17th edition of the Vita Malt Bequia Basketball tournament, with the other two to be determined this weekend at the Clive Tannis hard court in Bequia.
Already known is the winner of the Under-16 Division and Titansâ name has been written on the trophy. Titans got past Hawks two games to one, in the best of three finals.{{more}}
But Titans had to come from behind, as Hawks took game one â 42-40. Leading Hawksâ two-point triumph was Tre Gregg with 25 points, while Kelroy Durham scored 23 points and registered 10 rebounds for Titans.
Game two resulted in Titans resurging to win 57-47 and level the series one apiece.
Durham again led the way for Titans, this time pouring in 21 points and pulling down 23 rebounds and like game one, Gregg had a game high 28 points for Hawks.
Durham made successful eight points, as Titans scrambled the decisive game three 22-15. In the game, Gregg had six points for Hawks.
Dragons won that division last year.
Meanwhile, game one in both the Second and First Divisions were set for last Wednesday night. Playing for the top spot in the Second Division are Rising Stars and Blazing Heats and in the First Division, East Blazers and Duke.
Game two is set for tomorrow and if necessary, game three will take place on Sunday.
Blazing Heats won the 2013 and 2014 Second Division titles and will be looking to complete the three-peat this year, while Duke, who have been beaten twice in the regular season by East Blazers, are is looking to make it four titles in a row.
The Presentation Ceremony will be either Saturday or Sunday, depending on the outcomes of the two divisions.(RT)
