Myron Samuel sidelined for next World Cup tie

Vincy Heat will have to do without one of its go-to men – Myron Samuel – for the World Cup third round tie with Aruba on September 4 and 8.

Samuel, who made his debut in the United Soccer League for Sounders 2 last Wednesday, had a dream start, scoring two goals in the 51st and 86th minutes and was provider for the order.{{more}}

Coming on as a second half substitute, Samuel’s second goal proved to be the winner, as Sounders got past Colorado Spring Switchbacks, 3-2.

But the following day, Thursday, Samuel was under the surgeon’s watch, as he had his right foot operated on and reports say that he should be out of action for about 10 weeks.

Reflecting on his dream debut, Samuel wrote on his Twitter account: “I’m going to remember this one until I’m an old man, I have to say thanks to @EzraHendrickson & Seattle for this opportunity.”

Samuel was among a list of overseas based footballers who were set to return to St Vincent and the Grenadines to face Barbados in an International Friendly encounter at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex this Friday, August 28 .

The international game is a warm-up to the Aruba outing, with the first leg set for the Arnos Vale Playing Field, September 4, with the reverse fixture, four days later.

Meanwhile, the Vincentian outfit was set to go into camp from yesterday at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation’s Goal Project at Brighton.

While on camp, the players are expected to receive a motivational speech from Prime Minister Dr Ralph E Gonsalves, ahead of the Aruba encounter.
