East Blazers stay perfect in BBA Tournament
East Blazers are turning on the heat in the First Division of the Vita Malt Bequia Basketball Annual Tournament.
Still to be beaten, East Blazers registered their seventh and eighth wins last Saturday and Sunday at the Clive Tannis hard court.{{more}}
Among East Blazersâ casualties were defending champions Duke, who were downed 83-69.
Leading the scoring for East Blazers was former Duke player Stevorn Taylor, who poured in 26 points, while Jonas King had 27 to head up Dukeâs scoring.
Then, on Sunday, East Blazers got past Wizards 73-64. Taylor was again top scorer for the victors with 20 points and he added 14 rebounds to the good. For Wizards, Delwain Simmons had 19 points and 10 rebounds. Also on Sunday, Duke revenged on The Generals 45-33, thanks to Ishama Mc Kreeââs 14 points, while Ben Andrews notched up 16 for The Generals. The lone Second Division fixture on the weekend, saw Rising Stars outpointing Wizards Two, 115-60.
Reon Ollivierre, with 32 points and 16 rebounds, was the hot hand for Rising Stars. Shion Farrell â 21 points, led Wizards Twoâs scoring.
The weekend, though, was dominated by three matches in the Under-16 Division.
Recording wins were Hawks, Young Wizards and Hornets.
Hawks saw off Wizards 36-32. Hawksâ Darren John with 16 points and Young Wizardsâ Mario Tannis, 8 points, starred for their outfits.
Young Wizards rebounded to outlast 23-21. The respective top scorers were Mario Tannis of Young Wizards with 10 points and Tre Gregg for Hawks, 11 points.
And, Hornets beat Titans 40-31.
For Hornets, Augustine Pollard had 24 points and for Titans, Kelroy Durham pumped in 21 points and 18 rebounds.(RT)
