System trio gain football scholarships

Three female footballers of the System Three football club – Shadel Cyrus, Teffie-Ann Browne and Selisha Hazel – have procured scholarships to attend the Rangers College in Texas, USA.

The trio left for the USA last Thursday, where they will embark on various fields of study.{{more}}

All national players, with Browne being a member of both the Under-20 and senior outfits, Cyrus – the senior team and Hazell – the Under-20, they will be drawing on their football abilities to prop up their new institution’s programme.

The openings came for the players as a consequence of a visit here by a coach from Rangers College, who was initially impressed with Browne’s talents.

Ian Sardine, head of the System Three set-up, told SEARCHLIGHT that he was happy for the opportunities presented to the female players to get out and not only to hone their football skills, but at the same time embellish their educational prospects.

Sardine said that he would like to see other football units here explore the possibilities that exist to export more of their players.(RT)
