Adams was again the first to finish the 25-mile event which rode off from Villa to the Roundabout in Arnos Vale, then to Bridgetown, Biabou and back to the starting point, winning in one hour six minutes 12.24 seconds.

Zefal Bailey was second in one hour seven minutes 3.34 seconds and third was Enroy Lewis in one hour seven minutes 5.30 seconds.

Two others in the elite pack, Lucky Antrobus and Albert Quammie, completed the race.

In the masters’ category, the war horse Peter Durrant was first in one hour 10 minutes 58.95 seconds, ahead of Desmond Cox in one hour 32 minutes 56.93 seconds. Durrant placed fifth overall.

Meanwhile, the lone junior competitor to cross the finish line was Samuel Lyttle, in a time of one hour 21 minutes 55.58 seconds.

The cyclists will be at it again this Sunday, this time over a longer distance.

They will start outside Howard’s Marine at Villa to the Arnos Vale Roundabout, then to Georgetown. The cyclists, on reaching Mt Grenan, will head back to Georgetown, then to the Roundabout and back to Diamonds, before finishing at the starting point.

However, the juniors and masters will finish where they started, on their return from Georgetown.

The race is in preparation for the international five-stage race in Tobago late September and the Elite Caribbean Cycling Championships in Barbados in October.(RT)
